Hooray I finally had my first day at the magazine. There were some technical errors as always. My log in information wasn't working. Until they got it fixed, we had a staff web meeting for a little bit and then the rest of the morning was spent reading the new issue. By 1pm my log in still wasn't working so they let me go on a lunch break. I didn't go anywhere exciting, maybe I will venture out tomorrow somewhere fun. Luckily by the time I got back everything was up and ready to go.
My task was to help one of the other web people fact check old city guides so that we could update them once I learn the content management system. It was long and got a little redundant, but not too bad. I couldn't believe how many Web Site links they were missing. I started to get a tad bit annoyed by all the links to citysearch.com or whatever. I mean are you serious... that site doesn't give you any additional information so what is the point, because the viewer is just going to be disappointed. Hm I think I will bring that up tomorrow. I took a few pages home to work on to get a head start on tomorrow. I don't know why really, because after all I do have another full 10hr day ha ha Oh yea that's right the energy daily vitamins I bought must be working, because I have been doing good about breaking my addiction to Starbucks.
It's weird being here by myself, but I am realizing how many more people I will meet this way. Again the people at the magazine are super friendly as well. Everyone and everything is exceeding my expectations. I feel like I am going to fit right in at this magazine and that I made an excellent decision, but time will tell for sure. Mizzou alumni are great here and are more than willing to meet up for lunch or drinks. Makes the transition a bit easier.
As most of you know though, it's not strange for me to pickup and move to a place where I know nobody or even much about the city. I did it when I moved to Missouri. Sometimes you have to take that chance and it could be good or bad, but you make do with it until you can or are ready to move on. Sure I miss my friends and family, but this was something I had to do for myself. If I didn't, one day I would be 50 and wondering why the hell I didn't take the opportunity. I have so many things to look forward to now and when I get back. I am learning that I need to enjoy each moment for all its worth and wait to get excited about the others when they come.
So now that I have rambled on an on, I must tell you that our drain is still not fixed. UNBELIEVABLE! Ha even the people at the magazine office told me to take some draino... nice.
Oh yea... if you are feeling really nice mail me stuff... whatever you want. I want to feel special and get mail... and remember my birthday is in July ha ha Ask me for my address and I will give it to you.
Have a good night everyone!
My Computer
A Mac what do ya know!? ha ha
The Office
Some people have a window, but I don't. I like their view though!
Dark Ages Sink
I have never seen a sink without a facet, but now I have. How old is our sink anyway?!? Oh yea the hot and cold are backwards too.
The Tub
So here is the foot of water that I get to stand in every time I take a shower until they fix it.
Times Square
I accidently moved my camera phone while it was capturing so the road looks distorted, but still looks cool!
The City
The scenery along my walk to work.
